I mostly use the bag as a tote, which you can do by undoing a few buttons. I like the bag but you have to air it out for about a week before using it. I don’t know what the smell is from, but it does wear off after about a week. The hardware on the bag is substantial and the bag has held up well so far. I do recommend this bag.

I was on my way to Florida to visit my best friend of 22 years for Spring Break. i got this for a gift last March. I needed a new backpack, but this was PERFECT. The bag is awesome, its big enough for EVERYTHING! I carry mostly textbooks (I dont own a laptop) and it holds about 2 of my huge textbooks, my make up bag, wallet, water, agenda, and anything else I can fit in there. I live in NYC and this is a great bag for the train. If you overpack it, stuff will fall out, but its funstionality is great. If you have lots of stuff (or even if you dont) its a great bag for school, a weekend trip, or a visit to the beach.
